Advising

The Psychology Department offers our majors a variety of resources to assist with access of campus services to help ensure academic success, timely completion of degrees, and career planning.

Students are encouraged to read about undergraduate advising in the Washington State Vancouver Course Catalog. Please review the WSU Helpful Links on this page which are provided to supplement your advising resources.

Students who are enrolled in their 45th semester credit or higher, receive academic advising from the academic coordinator. Students receive their first individual advising appointment as they enter the department, and thereafter, advising is offered twice per year during fall and spring semesters. Additionally, the Academic Coordinator assists with the following:

  • Advises students regarding general education, college of liberal arts, and major requirements for degree completion.
  • Prepares a degree check sheet and advising file for each student.
  • Assists students in course selection.
  • Orients students to the electronic degree audit report.
  • Assists student when applying for graduation.
  • Assigns a faculty mentor for each student.
