Congratulations to our 2012 cohort: Alanna Beason, Chelsea Clark, Tashia DeLaCruz, Michael Gay, Stephanie Halen, Joel Keelin, James Kice, Savannah Norum, and Rachel Zeller.
These deserving students join charter members Linda Edwards, Paul Field, Gina Goddard, Adam Plous, Brad Richardson, Jeff Sanders, and Arica Smith (undergraduates), Sisilla Carpenter (graduate student), and Sue Peabody (professor) as WSUV's History honor society members.
Scholarships & Awards
As a member of Phi Alpha Theta's Alpha Xi Mu chapter, you are eligible to apply for the honor society’s awards and scholarships offered each year. Phi Alpha Theta awards scholarships and other prizes on the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level.
The Historian
Phi Alpha Theta members also receive a one-year subscription to the journal The Historian. Please allow up to six months for the arrival of your first edition of the quarterly journal.
Regional Conferences & Biennial Convention
Over thirty regional conferences are hosted each year where members are able to present their research in an academic environment. All student members are also eligible to present a paper at the Biennial Phi Alpha Convention (in Orlando, Florida in January 2012) and at the annual Phi Alpha Theta Pacific Northwest Regional Meeting (one of the largest PAT Regionals in the nation; Spokane in 2012, Portland in 2013). These meetings provide an excellent opportunity for members to gain experience presenting papers, while also making an excellent addition to a resume.

Graduation Honors
All Phi Alpha Theta members will recieve a certificate honoring your achievement as an honors student in our annual induction ceremony. Graduating members may march with an "Honor Cord" or "Honor Sash" designating you as a History Honors student. (These must be purchased from Phi Alpha Theta after the chapter submission of payment for the year, but you may purchase items before the induction ceremony, allowing at least the recommended 8-10 days shipping.)
Qualifications
To apply for honors, undergraduates must have an overall GPA of 3.0, have completed 12 hours of coursework in History, and have a History GPA of 3.1 or higher. (You do not need to be a History major! Students seeking majors or minors may qualify.)
Graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and have completed 12 hours of coursework in History at the graduate level.
A one-time lifetime membership fee is currently $40.00.
See Professor Fountain or the National Phi Alpha Theta site at http://www.phialphatheta.org/ for more information.
